Birthday Cake Practice

Posted on

My little baby boy is turning ONE in 11 days!  It is ridiculous how quickly this time has flown by!

A year ago :

A month ago :

What absolute joy this little person has brought to our lives.  He is so clever and loving, adventurous and determined, playful and  so very happy and has a great sense of humour.  I cannot think of a better sound than hearing him giggling hysterically at something.  We have loved this little man since the very first pink stripe appeared on the pregnancy test at the strange Russian Doctor’s rooms in Nigeria and over the past year he has *completely* stolen our hearts.

We are having a birthday party on his actual birthday and in all my wisdom, I decided to bake his cake myself instead of ordering one. ( I have also just finished making his birthday party outfit too!)  So this morning I realised that I better do a trial run so as not to have a flop next weekend!  And of course I wanted to make a fancy rainbow cake :)

So it started like this :

And came out like this :

Such a happy cake – makes me SMILE every time I see it in the kitchen ;)  And it is soft and moist and delicious too.  Yayness!

I think it will be perfect for my little Mason’s first birthday cake? Yes?

Now to finish my orders, planning the party food, making party packs, practice some icing techniques and we might just pull this off!

Much love,

Mandi xxx
