It's Not Called Dodge Central For Nothing…

In Nigeria, you do not have Summer or Winter.  You have rainy season or dry season.  And it’s always fucking hot.  The only difference is it is either wet hot or dry hot.  Right now happens to be the rainy season.  So every second day or so there is a massive downpour, usually in the middle of the night and makes such a racket on the tin roof covered patios outside our luxury suite at Dodge C, that it wakes us up.  The suite is also not what you would call waterproof.  Nope.  It’s not like it has big gaping holes in the roof similar to a hillbilly hostel I know well in SA.  Dodge C leaks from places you cant find.  The kitchen is usually the hardest hit, and even with the windows and doors closed tight, this magical lake always appears and floods the entire room.

Tonight we had quite a big storm and the rain poured down hard.  Once it had settled down, G and BLB cooked us dinner.  They were a little concerned about standing ankle deep in the kitchen lake while working with electrical appliances.  So BLB found some marble slabs and lay them down on top of the water which they then stood on.

I heard giggling coming from the kitchen.  Went in and found them “surfing” on their slabs while cooking dinner.  I just had to take a pic.

Wahaha  Like I said, this place is *not* called Dodge C for nothing! :)

Please cross your fingers, hold all your bits and wish hard that they sort out the hot water issue at HH and we get to move back home this week.  Seriously!

Much love,

M xxx
