Sight-Seeing around Abuja.

Posted on

Today after breakfast, G arranged for Femi, our driver, to take us around to see some of the places to shop and eat in the area. I am so impressed. Firstly we went to a place called Dunes, which is an upmarket Lebanese-run supermarket. It was awesome! We bought lots of nice nibbly stuff to keep us going for a while. In the centre of the supermarket is a pretty courtyard restaurant with a fountain and some seriously kitsch art deco orange and green tables. The place is clean, the staff friendly, the patrons all expats, the food was great. We ordered pizza’s and for someone who’d rather have cheese on toast than a pizza, they were delicious. Seriously!

G actually posed for this pic! :)

Yummy lunch

After lunch we went to a shopping centre called Cedi Plaza which was so cool. Inside we found so many cool shops. I took pics of a few places, specifically pics of the Apple store for Zoo. I even found a nail salon so I can go have my nails done for N3000 next week. Yay for me!

Here’s some pics

And finally some pics of the tree-lined streets in Abuja. Cant believe how pretty the area is.  Had to take these in the moving car, but have been promised that next week sometime Femi will stop the car for me to snap away :)

So my Zoobs, what do you think? I know you specifically had a very bad picture of what life out here would be like, hell, even I was expecting it to be bad. But Abuja is really nice. So very different from Lagos! I saw so many expat’s today, a South African woman with a tiny 2 month old baby girl, a family of 5 sitting at the same restaurant we had lunch, with 3 young children. It made me feel better. I told G we could stay. :) I can see us living a very comfortable happy life together here in Abuja.

My G is breathing a sigh of relief, he’s been having visions of me not being able to cope here, packing our bags and running away.   He doesn’t have to worry anymore, home will always be wherever we are *together* and tonight we all fall asleep together with happy smiles and much love in our hearts!

love,
M xxx
